Our Technical Support Missions in the Industrial Sector In 2019, industry once again actively requested OiEau to carry out technical support assignments for optimizing water treatment processes. Requests came from a wide diversity of sectors such as energy, metallurgy, chemistry, paper mills and food processing industry. The needs were also most varied: they covered strategic issues as well as operational expertise and advice, even research and development (tests and pilot units), and obviously skill assessments and the design / implementation of training plans. In 2019, OiEau thus studied the more economical and sustainable use of water resources (reuse, etc.), Natural Water Retention Measures, or even Eco-engineering, Nature-Based Solutions, life cycle analyses for various companies. More commonly, expertise and advice include analysis of malfunctions, regulatory changes, diagnostics of the design of treatment units and their operation, technical and economic optimiza- tions (reagents, energy, etc.) or the characteriza- tion of effluents (hard COD, etc.). Three examples of missions in 2019 VOLVO TRUCKS A problem: • Savings in water and reagents at the source & additional treatment of effluents for water recycling. Actions: • Diagnostic of the wastewater treatment plant; • Characterization of in and outflow effluents; • Recommendations on the best available techniques. EDF Ecocombust project A problem: • How to give a second life to coal power plants? A more virtuous energy production model for generating electricity from biomass and waste wood. Actions: • Bibliographic search; • Treatability tests; • Customized training; • Technical support; • Recommendation report. TOTAL Group Operational and decision support tools: • Methodological guide for water REUSE with creation of a decision support matrix; • Tailor-made monitoring tool dedicated to water issues related to the Group's activities; • Water data management in connection with the Group's geographic information system. 16
